A little bit of psycho-education this week, with the following video which talks about how we can use the parasympathetic nervous system to calm ourselves.
In my workshops I often refer to this system as ‘applying a brake to a car’ - it slows us down and puts us into a ‘rest and repair’ state. Now there are lots of ways to do this but the simplest and a truly transformative way is to breathe! Now I’m a massive fan of yogic breathing anyway (try breathing in for 5 secs, holding for 7 and breathing out for 8…it’s so calming!), but this video is a brilliant explanation of WHY it works. Have a listen and why not practice it as part of your daily habit? It’s so transformative and can be used to: calm yourself when stressed; slow down a panic attack or even get yourself to sleep 😴 Enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/reel/871372891097247?fs=e&s=7MtrtK Or for those without facebook, check out the technique at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSZKIupBUuc
